Madras and the Constitution
The story of independent India's creation is a lot more interesting than our textbooks lead us to believe. It involves a lot of political intrigue and violence - the Indian nation was forged in 'Fire and Blood'. On this walk, we explore the story of India, focusing on the Indian Constitution and the part that Madras played in this pivotal document.
This walk will involve death, assassination attempts and even a love story. Along the way, we will learn more about the process by which the Indian Constitution was written and why it remains relevant today. We will explore what it means to be Indian and how the Constituent Assembly approached the question of India and Indianess.
Join The Equals Project and Madras Inherited on this special walk, and explore the people, places and events from the Madras Constituency that influenced the Constitution of India.

What Participants Say
It was truly an eye-opening experience. I had no idea that Madras and its people played such a pivotal role in shaping the Constitution of India.
The walk was incredibly informative, engaging, and thought-provoking.
I really appreciated Ashmitha's use of visual aids, and was very struck by her ability to guide the group with so much information without needing to refer to any notes. The talk/walk itself was structured very well, with each stop connected narratively with the next.
Amazing story telling backed by solid research.
