Time Travel through Mount Road

Mount Road is a Chennai icon!

Madras and Mount Road are intertwined deeply in the hearts of all the city's residents and we want to celebrate its architecture, history, and people!
Mount Road has always been a definitive artery for Madras and today, Chennai. The heritage walk covers a part of the road with a unique and important history.

We look at what was once a village that lay along this road when it was little more than a connection between the Fort and St. Thomas Mount. We also look at the institution that gave identity to Madras City and hence made Mount Road iconic. From the LIC building to the State Bank of India, you'd be surprised at how many nationally important organizations took root from here. From stories of the Nawab of Arcot family to the Englishman who struck gold with a humble bookstore, a walk along Mount Road is filled with success stories and incredible legacies.

What Participants Say

The amount of information that was shared about various architecture styles and the brief explanations that were given about each and every site.

Walk was full of insights & it changed the perspective. It was organised and conducted professionally. Kudos!

That it wasn't too long/too short/tiring. The time was convenient as it wasn't too sunny/hot. Right duration, right amount of people and the narrative was short and crisp.
